Bright VS Brushed Stainless Steel

Bright VS Brushed Stainless Steel

Stainless steel nameplates are renowned for been durable and hard-wearing plates with industries such as oil & gas and marine choosing to use them for their rugged qualities.

However we now see more and more companies, mainly within the outdoor furniture and buildings market, requesting bright finish stainless steel nameplates. But, which is best, bright or brushed finish?

At GSM Graphic Arts we believe that it all depends upon your application. For instance if you require a QR or barcode on the stainless steel nameplate we would say that it is best to use a brushed finish because if bright stainless steel were to be scanned, the light would affect the reading. We can fibre laser mark the stainless steel to provide variable information on each plate. However, if you require a badge that reflects the light to attract attention to the product and bright finish stainless steel nameplates would be ideal.

In summary, brushed finish stainless steel nameplates tend to be used on the more industrial applications whilst bright finish stainless steel is used for more cosmetic applications and to enhance a products branding.
