Industrial Strength Durable Labels

 label that’s ‘durable’ can come with varying specifications depending on the context and intended environment. Something durable enough for extreme weather conditions use may not be an effective solution as a label that needs to have tamper proof properties.

Sheer physical resilience in the form of a heavy-duty or industrial strength label may be required for applications in oil and gas, marine, construction, transport, environmental and catering. Some sectors, like warehousing and logistics, medical and electronics may require a tamper-resistant, robust plastic solution.

Anodised Aluminium: A Heavy Duty Solution Able to House Additional Details

Many industrial environments can call for the use of anodised aluminium. The anodising process ensures that any inks are permanently sealed beneath the anodic layer, creating a scratch resistant, highly resilient and heavy duty solution.

Labels made from aluminium can also be digitally printed underneath the surface before the layer is sealed, which means they can feature variable information and a barcode — ideal for identification, asset management or logistical purposes.

These specialist anodising processes are carried out in-house, with shapes, sizes, quantities and colours of your labels all able to be customised to suit your requirements.

Etched Stainless Steel: An Industrial Strength Solution Suited to Harsh Outdoor Environments

For uses requiring optimal physical resilience, we may recommend a stainless steel label. Depending on the specification and application, 304 stainless steel or 316 stainless steel may be appropriate; 316 provides heightened corrosion resistance due to the presence of a small amount of molybdenum.

Detail on the surface of the label stainless steel durable is imparted using a chemical etching process. If colour is desired, then this can be infilled with paint. The result is an industrial strength solution that’s suited to surviving persistently in the extreme outdoor environments, for example oil and gas and marine applications.

Like anodised aluminium, these products can provide high resistance to salt water and chemicals. They can also be manufactured with UV resistant inks, tested to ANSI specifications for optimum colour stability.

Plastic Labels: For a Tamper Resistant Solution

On some occasions a label or nameplate is not necessarily required to withstand extreme conditions, but offer durability to protect a company’s product. This may be a solution that is resistant to tempering, perhaps protecting key details specific to an individual product.

Here, plastic is a functional, cost-effective option. It can be digitally printed to house the variable information for each product. These details and designs are under-surface printed so that the information cannot be edited. Under surface printing on plastic also provides an extremely durable finish as the ink is protected by the material and so will not scratch or wear with regular handling.
