Labels to go Underground

Whether your labels are for use on pipes or cables, we can manufacture them so they will stand the test of time. Some equipment is used underground when constructing tunnels and channels. Other forms of labels used underground are warning labels and asset inventory labels. Some labels may be submerged in soil, and if this is the case, a different solution is required so that the labels’ printed ink is protected. Alternatively, these can be manufactured using stainless steel that has been chemically etched and infilled.

What applications use labels underground?

For many years, we have been manufacturing plastic labels for a company to wrap around electrical wires, which are then channelled through tunnels and walls that go underground. These are used to provide electricity for lighting tunnels and dark underground pathways, whilst also providing emergency electricity when needed. The wiring and its labelling are very important and need to be located quickly if there were an emergency; therefore, undersurface plastic labels that are printed in bright colours with fluorescent inks or material can be used.

Working underground is far safer than it was in the past, when canaries were used to detect danger. Today, warning and safety signs are mandatory both outside and inside underground sites such as mines. We manufacture a full range of safety signs using anodised aluminium that is durable enough to withstand exterior and interior environments.

Another durable product to use for underground applications is stainless steel. This can be etched and filled to provide a durable yet bright label for warning or safety. Should variable information be required on a stainless steel plate, we can laser mark it. This causes a contrast of colour between the metal and the laser-marked detail.
