Outdoor
For over 50 years, we have built labels that have been used in many sectors, and we pride ourselves on the durability of the products we manufacture. Each sector and environment needs a different label that can withstand the elements it is subjected to. We will help you to find that solution.
Outdoor Labels
Labels for outdoor use are very common; however, what the labels can be subjected to can be very different. Outdoor usage can mean very different things. Some nameplates and labels we manufacture will be stuck to equipment or products that are located outside and will receive all the wear and tear associated with it.
Another product may be used outside for a short while and then stored indoors for some time before it is used again. Knowing these variations in application helps us to recommend and produce the most durable labels we can.
Why use an outdoor label?
There are many products that require a nameplate, graphic overlay, or label to be displayed on them, and once we understand the application, GSM can manufacture a durable label that will span the product’s lifetime.
Some of our customers erect sheds and fencing that require logo badges or sequential numbered labels, whilst others require CE or UKCA plates for outdoor gym equipment or playground equipment.
These are all examples of labels that will be outside in all weathers, therefore, need to be robust and durable enough to withstand this.
Other customers use our labels for items such as lawnmowers and shearing equipment, and whilst these do get used outside and mostly in the sunshine, they can get scratched or scraped when storing, so need to be manufactured robustly.
Once we discuss your requirements with you, we can decide on the product to use for your bespoke equipment. Products such as under-surface printed plastics are used on our customers’ lawnmowers as these have been tested to ANSI specifications, so can withstand UV rays, but also because they are under-surface printed, the clear material used protects the printed ink from wear and tear.
Equipment that remains outdoors all year long, such as the playground equipment and gym equipment, would benefit from an anodised aluminium label that can be digitally printed to include a serial number. Anodising aluminium is the process of electrically charging the aluminium to open its pores and then printing into them before sealing, effectively sealing the ink beneath the anodic layer. This provides labels that can be serialised but are also extremely durable for outdoor usage.
