Specialised Finishes for Williams Refrigeration
The Details:
For many years now GSM Graphic Arts have manufactured graphic overlays and labels for Williams Refrigeration, a world leading manufacturer of professional & commercial refrigeration equipment. The Williams products are often used in various environments, making it essential that the overlays and labels manufactured by GSM are hard-wearing and durable.
The Challenge:
With a new product in development the Marketing team at Williams Refrigeration reached out to GSM to help find the ideal solution as they wanted to achieve a unique 3D textured finish for the control panel overlays on a new range of products.
Two options were suggested by GSM’s design team, one was to use different surface printed lacquers to add textures giving an extra dimension to their graphic overlays, and the other was to emboss the material to create multi-layered features.
As the new overlays are being used on the front of their products and so are customer facing, Williams Refrigeration wanted to be sure that not only was a high quality finish achieved, but that this finish would remain extremely durable when in use within an industrial catering environment.
The Solution:
After various samples were produced on different material finishes, it was decided that the desired result could be achieved by using both techniques, creating a label with a durable finish that looks and feels of superior quality. The new overlays incorporate a selectively lacquered background printed in a honeycomb shape, adding an extra dimension, and to achieve maximum aesthetics GSM also added a coloured, raised border in a gloss finish which was successfully received.
