GSM Group supports Herriot Hospice@The Lambert

Lambert Memorial Hospital was a cottage hospital built in 1890 by Mrs Lambert of Sowerby to provide medical care for residents of Thirsk and surrounding areas. The original hospital had 5 beds and a total of 26 patients gained treatment in 1891. The Lambert continued to serve the local community as a Medical Centre, including a 14 bed inpatient ward, until finally closing in 2015.
GSM Graphic Arts’ links with The Lambert go back some years when GSM Group Founder, Barry Dodd CBE, was one of the sponsors of the Mayor’s Dinner in aid of ‘The Lambert 90 Appeal Fund’ which was launched to raise £90,000 towards repairs of the Lambert Memorial Hospital in 1990.
The original building of The Lambert Memorial Hospital is now being refurbished by Herriot Hospice Homecare which has provided hospice care in people’s homes within the North Yorkshire area for more than 30 years. The Lambert will be their first building, providing inpatient hospice care, supporting local families living with terminal illness and bereavement.

The project is expected to run for 12 months with the total cost in the region of £1.7m of which almost £1m has already been raised.
