After many years of working with customers manufacturing products used within a marine environment, GSM is well placed to recommend suitable materials for underwater labels that will meet your offshore requirements.
We can produce marine labels suitable for underwater applications using polycarbonate with a 3M solvent-based adhesive. These can be either under surface digitally, or silkscreen printed so that the ink remains protected by the polycarbonate substrate, which will enhance the durability of the labels. Both printing options enable the colours to be reproduced to match the required specification, and of course with the digital print option there is no limit to the number of colours that can be incorporated.
Extremely Hardwearing Offshore Labels
Should you require an offshore label suitable to withstand the rigours of being permanently positioned outside in the extreme environmental conditions of an oil rig or similar then GSM can produce etched 316 stainless steel nameplates. These are supplied with the text detail etched into the surface of the 316 stainless steel which means that it is as durable as can be, with no inks to wear the surface of the stainless steel would need to deteriorate significantly to make the marine nameplate unreadable.
Our marine underwater labels are fitted onto life-saving equipment used on boats, helicopters and oil rigs. The labels have been tested to the requirements of ANSI B71.4 to ensure that they retain colour stability for a minimum of 5 years. We have also performed salt mist testing on our anodised aluminium labels to ensure that they withstand the test of being used outside.
