Barcoded Labels

News

GSM Graphic Arts celebrates 40 years as the label, nameplate and fascia specialist this year.

It is also a celebratory year for the universally recognised bar code. Barcode labels originally represented data using widths and spacing of parallel lines and were originally scanned by using special laser scanners. Initially produced to read product information, bar codes now can supply us with almost any information.

40 years ago, June 1974, Wrigleys Juicy Fruit Chewing gum was the first product to be scanned using a hand made laser scanner.

Who would have thought 40 years later we would be using mobile devices to scan bar codes?

Throughout the years QR barcode labels have progressed and improved, GSM has ensured that we have improved our capabilities also. This enables us to provide the most durable barcode labels meeting military standards to MIL-STD-130 and including; Barcodes (code 39, code 128 etc), 2D Data Matrix barcodes, UID codes, QR codes, serial numbers, void, tamper evident, temperature indicators and latent imaging.
