GSM’s Growth Prompts New Plant

Increased demand for anodised aluminium labels, nameplates and fascias has prompted GSM Graphic Arts to invest in a new state of the art anodising plant.

Anodising aluminium is a process in where aluminium is electrically charged within a sulphuric acid solution causing oxidising and therefore effectively opening the pores of the surface to enable inks to be printed into the aluminium. This is then sealed to provide a durable, hard wearing finish to a product.

GSM commissioned the market leaders to provide a working solution which enabled us to continuously anodise aluminium sheets and therefore more efficiently manufacture anodised aluminium nameplates, labels and fascias.

The new process line comprises five dip tanks and both load and unload stations. Suspending the aluminium sheets on a cantilever transporter to transport each load of aluminium through the process.

Not only is the new line providing a faster throughput, it also has enhanced monitoring and reporting which, in turn, provides better process control and enhanced quality. GSM continues to grow year on year and this new efficient anodising facility will help us to develop and expand our customer base.
