Merry Christmas from GSM

Today, we delivered our festive food donation to Community Works so they can distribute the food to families before Christmas.

Over the past couple of weeks our amazing employees have been donating festive food for Community Works – a local food bank charity.

Food is a huge part of the Christmas period. Many people have Christmas lunch. Some share mulled wine and mince pies. Even the reindeer get left a carrot or two on Christmas eve. We all overindulge in turkey, Christmas chocolate and much more over the festive period and we wanted to help spread Christmas cheer to families in and around Thirsk. So, we aimed to collect as many mince pies, yules logs and more for families who may depend on the food bank over the Christmas period.

Our employees had a short amount of time to collect the donations, and we were blown away by their generosity and thoughtfulness of what was donated. Chocolates for the tree, Christmas savoury snacks, a lot of mince pies and even a few Lebkuchen were included in the boxes of food. To further aid this very important cause, we ‘charged’ our employees who wore a festive Christmas jumper last week and this money bought even more food to be delivered.

As we arrived to deliver the food to Community Works it was evident how much our food donation would be appreciated. The volunteers were racing around like Santa’s elves packing boxes for families that will receive food in time for Christmas. It was so full with busy ‘elves’ we did not have chance to photograph the sheer amount of food that had been donated but, trust us when we say, there was a lot.

Thank you to our employees for providing such thoughtful donations and a giant thank you to Community Works for ensuring all families can enjoy some Christmas cheer this year.
